Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could help the team reach areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
