Major Russian Attacks Disrupt Electricity In Kyiv
Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in large parts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.
Nine people were hurt while residents in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and faced problems to drinking water, as stated by municipal leaders.
Simultaneously, a minor was fatally injured in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.
Moscow has escalated attacks on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Russia.
"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, European nations and the G7 - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing sanctions," was stated in a online statement.
Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 projectiles attacked energy facilities, characterizing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.
The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were working to restore power.
A wave of strikes struck energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.
Several of the people injured in the attacks on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to local officials.
Local officials said the city came under intense attacks overnight. A minor was killed and three other people were hurt.
The strikes succeed evenings of aerial attacks in the territory, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.
The entire country is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to identify.
Authorities told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the national power system, with strikes already impacting fuel infrastructure.
Officials stated technical personnel and officials were preparing for more assaults.
